Purella Acai Berries BIO (21g)
The tree on which the acai berry grows (also known as the Brazilian palm berry) is a plant characteristic of the rainforests of South America. The dark purple fruits resemble grapes in their appearance and size. Their taste is described as a mixture of chocolate and blueberries with a metallic aftertaste in the mouth. Country of origin: Brazil.
In Europe, acai berries are available in powdered form. Superfoods, they contain large amounts of antioxidants, have anti-cancer properties, protect the heart and improve brain function. They can also have a positive effect on the appearance of the skin and facilitate weight reduction. Acai fruit is a combination of unsaturated fatty acids, amino acids, phytosterols, vitamins, elements important for health (including calcium, chromium, iron, zinc, copper, magnesium) and fiber.
- Acai berries are among the fruits with the highest antioxidant potential (ORAC). In this respect, blueberries, valued for their antioxidant properties, are over 3 times higher. Among the antioxidants present in acai, the greatest amounts are the anthocyanins responsible for the color of berries and the protection of cells against cancer and the health of blood vessels. Thanks to anthocyanins, acai berries can also lower the level of the so-called bad cholesterol.
- Antioxidants and polyphenols present in fruits reduce oxidative stress and inflammation, protecting the brain against diseases of old age (Parkinson, Alzheimer). Anthocyanins are believed to improve memory by activating signal transmission between synapses and improving blood flow in the brain.
- The same antioxidants in combination with the fiber present in blueberries have a protective effect on the heart. Regular consumption of powdered blueberries can lower the risk of a heart attack and contribute to lowering LDL cholesterol and increasing HDL. Acai berry powder may also help lower cholesterol and stabilize sugar levels in overweight people.
- Acai berries are rich in heart-healthy fatty acids, especially oleic, palmitic and linoleic acids.
