Purella Tricolour Quinoa BIO (100g)

The Incas called the quinoa "the mother of all grains." Quinoa has already been grown over 5,000. years ago. Hundreds of species of this plant are cultivated in the world, but the most popular are white, red and black quinoa. The tricolour quinoa is a combination of these 3 most common types of plant. Saponins naturally occur in quinoa - chemical compounds that give it its characteristic bitterness and protect the plant from pests. Country of origin: Peru.

From a botanical point of view, quinoa is not classified as grain. It is referred to as a pseudo grain. This means that the plant is used in a similar way to traditional cereals and grains. It also has a similar nutritional profile. Quinoa is a whole grain product (its seeds are not refined) and is naturally gluten-free. It contains fiber, essential vitamins and minerals. Provides slow digestion of carbohydrates, so it does not cause sudden jumps in blood sugar levels and ensures a feeling of fullness for a long time.

- Quinoa as an exceptionally valuable food has been proposed by NASA as an ideal food for space flights. Quinoa is one of the few plants that contains a complete protein, i.e. a protein composed of all 9 essential amino acids (the body cannot produce them on its own and must supply them with food). It is therefore a perfect complement to a vegan and vegetarian diet.

- Quinoa, compared to other grains, contains large amounts of fiber - the body's undigested carbohydrate essential for maintaining bowel health, regular bowel movements and stabilizing blood sugar levels. Quinoa belonging to the so-called super foods also contain large amounts of antioxidants. The antioxidant properties of quinoa are due to: vanillic acid, coumaric acid, quercetin and campherol. The last two compounds protect against chronic diseases, including cancer.

Directions for use:

Quinoa is cooked like any other groats. The preparation time is about 15 minutes, it is recommended to rinse the quinoa first under running water. It can be used as a groats substitute, a base for salads, a porridge substitute or an addition to baking. You can bake it, make chocolate cream out of it or bake cookies. Before cooking, pour water over the grains to flush out the bitter saponins.

The recommended daily intake is 50 g or approx. 115 g after cooking.

Store in a dry, cool place. Protect from light.
